The girl who whistles blew my mind away

Protected by Copyscape Unique Content Validation

I am back from the unplanned hiatus with a good bye poem that I wrote under the influence of some wine. No rework no corrections and no improvisations. I just put those things that came to my imaginative mind and I came with a poem full of flaws but true to the last word. At the end of it I was wondering if wine can do what it has done to an amateur writer like me what not can it do to seasoned players, I mean the real poets and the lyricist. I guess it elevates their writing skills helping them churning out beautiful words after words right from their heart. So here it goes.

It’s titled ‘The girl who whistles just blew my mind away’

Date: 09/01/2011

Time: Somewhere between 2 and 3 am.

She is the only girl I know who can whistle
She is the one who blew my mind away
She is the one who captured my imagination
She is the one whose thoughts I fight against
She is the girl who whistles

She is the one whom I always tried to impress
She is the one who comes to my mind as the first thought of the day
She is the last thought too before I converge into my dreams
She is the one whom I would like to dream about
She is the girl who whistles

She is the one I desired to make her mine
She is the one I wanted to be a part of
She is the one I wanted my life to be measured with
She is the one I wanted to mother my children
She is the girl who whistles

She is the one I tried hard to convince
She is the one I always wanted to win over
She is the one I care about
She is the one for whom I dared to do anything
She is the girl who whistles

She is the one whom I love unconditionally
She is the one who never tried to see it
She is the one who never gave in
She is the one who never gave me a chance
She is the girl who whistles

She is the one I try to forget now
She is the one against whom I fail miserably
She is the one with whom I want to find my peace
She is the one I want to let go
She is the girl who whistles

She is the one I don’t want to disturb
She is the one I want to see happy
She is the one who deserves good things
She is the one who doesn’t want me
She is the girl who whistles

She is the girl who can whistle
She is the girl who blew my mind away
She is the girl who is far away
She is the one….
She is the girl who whistles

Choose your title

Protected by Copyscape Unique Content Validation

I asked my friend to give the title for the post and this is what he has provided. He is the ardent fan whom i have mentioned in the post. You can choose the one you like as i found it too difficult to choose one myself ;)
Thanks Babu.

1)The run machine that never depreciates…
2)21 Years, 93 Centuries, 31045 runs, ONE Man…!
3)Tendulkar – Passion and Perfection personified…
4)The 36-Year old youngster
5)No wonder Bradman saw himself in Sachin…
6)The Maverick who never ceases to amaze…

November 9 2009, Deccan, Hyderabad; Australia had put 350/4 on the board in 50 over’s. Out came Sachin and Sehwag to chase the huge score in a pitch that was a batting beauty. They reached the first fifty in blistering pace and when it was just before the ninth over could be completed Sehwag departed when the score card read 66. sachin who was playing the second fiddle so far stepped up to take the centre stage and what followed was a match winning innings which was not to be due to some pathetic cricket from his team mates. Then he had a chance to reach the magical figures of 200 and I was keeping my fingers crossed just like anyone who was following the match. I even messaged my friend who is an ardent fan of the little master that this is going to be his only chance to claim the highest score in ODI and a double hundred. And against the worlds best team would be another reason to be proud of. But it ended up as a far cry as Mckay claimed his wicket with a slower one, caught by Hauritz at short fine leg when he went for his poodle swoop. It was an innings of a lifetime and I thought he might not get another opportunity to get hold of that coveted record of highest one day score that he deserves to have against his name. Now when i look back i realize how wrong a judgment it was.Champions don't wait for the opportunity, they just make it.

Three months hence it was a different opponent, a much better bowling attack indeed, a different venue and a different situation. He walked with his same old partner who departed with just 25 on board. This time around he was on the front foot on the attacking mode, his runs never coming down the number of balls faced. Shots bludgeoned, flicks clicked, drives caressed he was in his elements finding the boundary almost in all the overs. Bowlers toiled but were shown no mercy; they were literally taken to the cleaners, even the good deliveries were shown the ropes. As he went past 150 everyone’s eyes set the chances on his career best which was 186. when he crossed that landmark the heart started pounding heavily wanting him to beat the highest score of 194 in ODI and when that was achieved everyone wanted nothing short of the 200 and the little master obliged. He reached the magical figure of 200 in the last over of the innings with a single and thanked the heavens which he always does reaching the three figure mark. It was like a fitting script to have no other than his captain at the other end of the pitch to congratulate him. What an achievement this one is. As sanjay manjrekar rightly put it, no one else deserved it more.

Now he has shown the way that many might follow but then we only remember Neil Armstrong of the very few who landed in the moon. He has shown that 200 is achievable but anyone who intends to take the route need to understand that it demands determination, allegiance and commitment of the highest order that this champ demonstrated all his career. Even the worst of critics who would have shoveled undeserving criticism all his life will consider this as a moment of pride. All the comparisons of this magician whose wand is the bat, with his contemporaries should be a matter of the past from here on as he has ventured into a unique kingdom where no one dares to step in.

The final gesture at the presentation ceremony to dedicate his efforts to the people of India shows the humility in him revealing the humble nature of this man. Twenty long years of carrying the expectation of an entire nation in an insouciant manner this genius has brought moments of joy in millions of lives all around the globe. His love for the game is unfathomable for that’s what in my conviction keeps him go on and on. The only record that eludes him at this point in time is highest score in test cricket and I wish him like most of his fervent fans break that record too. Lara, your record holds for some more time until the little champ gets over it ;)

Sachin, thanks for twenty years of good solid cricket. Go on and on and on.

Happy Valentine's Day

Protected by Copyscape Unique Content Validation
Its February 14th again and it has been never been special for me for I don’t see it any special day than a normal day. The couples going out and the politicos making their presence felt has been the order of the business lately. Valentines Day as I see it is a cultural bug that enamored the Indian youngsters and politicos alike for their own reason is a bi product of globalization. I have been smitten by that bug too. Its better to run with the crowd than to be the odd one out, isn’t it? ;)

This Valentine’s Day I got few confessions to make. First confession is to my first girl friend. I have never gone public about my feelings for her. I have never told her that I loved her and neither did she. Sometimes you don’t need words to tell someone how much they are loved and cared. Calls when you wake up, calls when you have your breakfast, calls when you are at work, calls when you are on the go just reminds you that you are always there in her mind and you never get tired of it no matter what. We have confrontations, arguments, opposition, and disagreement over trivial things and I still do remember the days when I used to get all the bashings from her. Despite all odds we are still going strong just like the way we started twenty seven years back. Yes I love my mom, my first girl friend. No matter how many ever followed no one could come closer to better her (showing off that I too had my chances ;)
I love you mom for what you are and for all the love you showered. Though we are not in great deal of terms at the moment I look forward to make amends soon to get back in terms.

The next confession is to my old man. Despite carrying the grudge and vengeance of all the bashings and knuckles I was tendered by him I can’t deny the fact that it made the man what I am today. With the consolation that he is not going to read this one I can tell out loud “papa I love you”. It’s a bit embarrassing, but it’s ok ;)

Over to my brother who gave me tough time snatching the love and attention off me when growing up and still continuing to call over jealousy when mom says something like “the house is empty when this crack goes out” notwithstanding my obvious presence. I love you bro.

Now to the real confession ;)
To the girl I gave my heart and occupy my mind and stays in my thoughts without paying any rent I got to tell her only one thing. I love you and I meant it every time I said that. You will be missed big time.I dont know whether i will have another valentines day to confess ;)

With the cliché last but not the least I ponder upon my friends without whom I am incomplete. Thanks for all the time you shared with me bearing all my nonsense. I love you all and it’s only with you guys that I can tell this without the slightest of hesitancy. I love you guys for all that you gave me.

To the seen, unseen, acquainted, left, staying, lingering, I LOVE YOU ALL.

Wish you all a happy valentines day :)

PAY-CHECK,CHECK-PAY

Protected by Copyscape Unique Content Validation

I happened to meet a friend of mine yesterday and decided to check into an hotel nearby for a bite.We sat down in the Air conditioned (AC) segment of the hotel as the non AC segment was completely occupied.

We ordered for a cheese san-veg,a grape juice and a milk shake. As we finished our food the electronically printed bill was passed on.To my surprise the bill reflected nothing of those things we ordered but for the number of items ordered. The bill showed one musambi juice,a fruit salad with ice cream and a pomegranate juice and it was for two hundred and five rupees(Rs.205).I for a second thought that the price might be the same and due to some technical difficulties they might have done so.So i decided to check the menu for the price and found there to be a difference. Then i pointed out the same to the person who presented the bill considering that the bill was presented at the wrong table. But to my astonishment he manually corrected the bill and now it came to one hundred and eighty five rupees (Rs.185)
I sensed that something fishy was happening and i demanded a printed bill for the things i ate or otherwise i denied to pay anything which was then duly presented. Then not figuring out what exactly was happening i complained the incident to the hotel manager and left the scene.

In hindsight i understood that

1)The bill for Rs.205 first given to me was left behind by an earlier customer who would have made the payment and failed to take the bill with him.
2)The waiters in the AC section were saving that left behind bills and presenting the same to the new customers.People who are ignorant of the particulars of the bill will be concerned only about the total and will pay it without any second-thoughts which went straight to the pocket of the waiters and not the hotel cashier.

So friends when you check into a hotel next time and pay for the bill take care to stick to these points

1)Check for the time and date in the bill if it is electronically generated.
2)Check for the list of items ordered and count and make sure you are paying for what you are eating.
3)Check the menu to find any discrepancies in the rate provided in the bill.
4)Take the bill with you when you leave the table so that you don't end up playing a part in making another person fool inadvertently.

This is the second instance that its happening with me and seems pretty prevalent in the city lately.

Don't be ignorant, for being educated is far more important than to be a literate.I like to thank Suresh my senior colleague here for i took the habit of checking the bill from him.

And for people like me who don't really care to pay the bill, being an educated or a literate doesn't really matter ;)

People I admire - Bryan Adams

Protected by Copyscape Unique Content Validation

A post for him has been long due and i am into the groove to dedicate one for him today. This guy is awesome with his music and the lyrics that are very appealing to me.He got a song for every occasion when it comes to love.Whether its a break up,whether its a celebration, whether its a betrayal, you say what and you get a song for anything when it comes to love.He got a deep voice that is so unique that you tend to think that he is destined to sing all his life. One of my all time favorite musician and more than that a wonderful human being for all his charity work he does non nonchalantly. There are few songs of Bryan that you will never get tired of no matter how many times you listen to them back to back."Everything i do, i do it for you" and "Please forgive me,I cant stop loving you" are my all time favorite songs."
I consider this guy to be the most romantic amongst the men i have seen for his songs are so revealing and amative. He is one guy who can turn his emotions to words and words into good music which i guess fetched him all the accolades he has been bestowed upon.
I would like to share one of his songs here which is topping my chart currently. Its "When you are gone"

-------------------------------------------------------
I've been wandering around the house all night
wondering what the hell to do
I'm trying to concentrate but all I can think of is you
well the phone don't ring cuz my friends ain't home
I'm tired of being all alone
got the tv on cuz the radio's playing songs that remind me
of you

baby when you're gone I realize I'm in love
the days go on and on and the nights just seem so long
even food don't taste that good - drink ain't doing what it
should
things just feel so wrong - baby when you're gone

I've been driving up and down these streets
trying to find somewhere to go
ya i'm lookin' for a familiar face but there's no one I know

this is torture - this is pain - it feels like I'm gonna go
insane
I hope you're coming back real soon -coz I don't know what
to do
----------------------------------------------------------

I can go on and on and on with lot of his songs to talk about non stop but then his songs speak for themselves.Listen to his songs and get addicted the way i am.Never have any performer cast a spell on me like him.To write a song is hard,to compose music is harder and to make it phenomenal is the hardest and this guy pulls off all at the same time that too hands down.

Take my bow Mr.Romantic.Long live you, long live your music.

The stale state of our nation

Protected by Copyscape Unique Content Validation

This is an article i received as a mail.I thought of sharing it in my blog.God knows when we stop killing each other and the blame game.Guess we are the biggest of all racists and murderers in this entire world. An Australian's take on the Indian media and i get no points to go against his verdict.Do see if you got any. This is the serious stale state of our nation.

In 2007, according to India's National Crime Records Bureau, 32,318 people were murdered in India. Another 3644 were victims of ''culpable homicide'', roughly equating to manslaughter. In a category of its own, 8093 brides or their relatives were killed in ''dowry deaths'' - murdered by greedy grooms and in-laws angry over the amount of dowry paid by the bride's family. And there were a further 27,401 attempted murders.

By contrast, in 2007, the Australian Bureau of Statistics reports, 255 people were murdered in Australia. Another 28 were victims of manslaughter, and 246 survived attempted murders. No dowry deaths were recorded.

India, of course, is a very big country. But the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime estimates that relative to population, its homicide rate is more than twice that of Australia. It is a country in which violent crime is commonplace - so commonplace that every day more than 100 Indians are murdered by other Indians, yet their TV news channels treat this as humdrum unless it involves some celebrity or unusual features.
Indian student murder furore. Photo: Spooner

Yet when an Indian is murdered overseas, these news channels whip themselves and their viewers into a froth of indignation at the country concerned. How can this happen?, they thunder. How can any civilized nation fail to protect its residents? What kind of racist country is this?

How does this happen? Well, it happens because human beings are imperfect creatures. They can be selfish, they can be hateful, they can enjoy hurting, even killing, other humans. It happens here, it happens in India, it happens everywhere.

Governments can't stop it because they can't control what their citizens do 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Governments can't monitor every suburban park in Melbourne at night to ensure that no teenagers with knives have gathered for an illegal drinking binge. They can't monitor every dark street in India's cities, or every home in its villages, to stop people killing each other.

Australians instinctively know that their parks are not safe places at night, and avoid using them as short cuts. Tragically, Nitin Garg did not know that. And so he has become another victim of our epidemic of alcohol abuse, our tolerance of extreme violence in films and screen games - and yes, of Romper Stomper racism that seems to live on among teenagers in the western suburbs, now directed against Indians instead of Vietnamese.

Does that mean Australia is unsafe? No. Relative to most countries, it is very safe. But you can be unlucky. Like Nitin Garg, you can be in the wrong place at the wrong time - and come up against the worst characteristics of a society.

This was highlighted in the calm, sensible advisory notice on Tuesday by India's Ministry of External Affairs. It warns intending students of the rise in violent attacks on the streets of Melbourne. But it notes that these are occurring all over Melbourne ''without any discernible pattern or rationale behind them . . . often accompanied by verbal abuse, fuelled by alcohol or drugs''. The offenders are ''mainly young people in their teens or early 20s''.

Importantly, the ministry points out that most Indian students ''have a positive experience of living and studying in Australia''. So rather than urging Indians not to come here, it urges them to take ''certain basic precautions'': don't travel alone late at night, and try to stick to ''well-lit, populated areas'', conceal expensive items and tell others where you're going.

It is street-smart survival-kit stuff, as relevant in Delhi or Mumbai as Melbourne. And thank God for some common sense after all the hyperventilating by the humbugs on India's news channels or by the Minister of External Affairs, S.M. Krishna, who called the murder a ''heinous crime against humanity''.

Well, yes. But what of the 32,318 murders, 3644 culpable homicides and 8093 dowry deaths committed in his own country in 2007? Are they not equally ''heinous crimes against humanity''? What is Mr Krishna doing about them? What are the Indian TV networks doing about the huge death toll of Indians killed in India itself (where the annual road toll is now tipped to reach 150,000)?

The networks don't have to make a direct comparison. Urban Delhi spills into the state of Haryana, which is relatively well-off and with a population slightly larger than Australia's. In 2007, Haryana had 1252 homicides/manslaughters/dowry deaths, compared with 283 in Australia. More people were murdered in Haryana over dowries than in Australia for all causes.

Why aren't India's TV networks campaigning against the epidemic of death all around them? Why does it take a murder of an Indian overseas to stir their moral outrage?

Were they equally outraged 10 years ago when Australian missionary Graham Staines and his two sons were burnt alive in their car by Hindu extremists in Orissa? Or in 2004 when Australian tourist Dawn Griggs was robbed, raped and murdered by two taxi drivers after arriving late at night at Delhi airport?

Those murders don't mean India is unsafe for Australians. Rather, we all need to be wary, wherever we are. This time last year, I was in India with the family on holiday, and the worst danger we faced was trying to cross the road. I hope Indians thinking of studying in Australia listen to their diplomats, not to their TV humbugs.

Distance

Protected by Copyscape Unique Content Validation

Distance, it is defined as the property created by the space between two objects or points. The distance I have been thinking about lately is the property created by the space between two individuals those who are into a relationship. Yes distance plays a very important role in relationships today and my claim largely encapsulates only my generation as I don’t know how it was in the past and I am no Nostradamus to predict how it will be in the future. This post is largely influenced by a break up of one of my friends. The relationship is eight years old and it was considered to go to the nuptials during the college days but it happened that it had to fall apart just before the finish line and no marks to guess the reason behind it, the distance of course.

It’s not that they are separated by seven seas that all hell broke lose between them. They were very much in the same city. But the distance was in their minds. They didn’t realize that a void was building up between them. When the lips stop uttering the heart stops listening, isn’t it? Communication has such a pivot role in relationships I assume. The girl chose a guy who works with her. That should explain it all. Relativity, I would say. Einstein would have reinstated his relativity theorem with this analogy if he were to be my contemporary ;)

Fragile hearts debile bonding and people with faltering minds that can not see through a blue day are the secret ingredients of the so called “perfect” relationships. For them responsibilities are compromises, commitment is too much to be expected. I am no relationship guru but then this is my space and I can write what I feel like. I might sound too ridiculous for my fast track generation whose mantra is ‘move on (cos it sounds really cool, doesn’t it??)’. I don’t insist to stop and rue the worthwhile life but be sincere. When I sound ‘sincere’ it adds on “serious” in many people’s mind but it’s only a phantasm. Sincere is devoid of seriousness and it can be played cool. That’s what real cool people do. Chetan bhagath’s 2 states is a book that emphasises my claim and its worth reading for people in relationship where there is a quiet a distance, literally.

NOTE TO CHETAN: You owe me a portion on the sales of the book “2 states” for I am providing you free marketing in my space. Hope you are listening ;)
I am the fourth idiot you are going to have a tough time with :)

Freak Accident

It was 08th December of the year 2009 [just wanted to sound as if I am writing a great write up ;)] nothing great happened. I woke up late just like any other weekdays. I don’t like treating weekends any special than the weekdays and to keep it even I treat the weekdays like the weekends waking up when I feel like 

I had to visit the bank this day and I had to sign few documents for a process that will make me appear richer and in fact turn me indebted to the bank a little longer. I planned initially to reach office in time (which is actually 9 am) and then go to the bank from there borrowing my colleague’s bike as I had the appointment with the banker only at 10 am.

But then plans are only supposed to be in the paper and never to be executed. I had to accompany my buddy who is my room mate too that morning to the old house to detach the ceiling fans and to carry it to the new place as we recently shifted base. I can’t be at two places at the same time and so I had to change my plan to fit in. I planned to go to the bank directly from my place and this time I would borrow the vehicle from my buddy who shares everything at the moment except my innerwear and me likewise. This time I stuck to the plan and reached the bank in time, though it was 10 minutes late to the banks clock. (Why don’t all the clocks show the same time?) I waited for one Mr.Srikanth for near 15 minutes before I was directed to a table inside a big hall. After the initial pleasantries we got down to business which had much to do with the banker filling in few details like my name and details in lot of documents and me signing those like a superstar crowded by his fans for his/her autograph. Honestly these are the moments when we realize our signature worth. It gives an airy feeling when you finish the signature with a dot or a line under it making you feel jubilant giving you a taste of what it feels like to be bestowed with super stardom.

Once all the documents were signed I was given the cheque for which I was signing all that time and shook hands with the banker and left the building to start off from there to my bank where I can encash it. It wasn’t 10 minutes since I left the bank and started moving in the bike when I received a call. This was the first hurdle in the sequence of happening which otherwise was going pretty smoothly. It was the banker asking me to come back to the bank as he wanted one more of my autograph. I was wondering on my way back where I missed to sign as I double checked and made sure I signed everywhere the banker marked the document with an x. Later when I got back to the bank I realized that the sign was to acknowledge the correction the banker did when writing my name.

I had to thank him for the mistake he did and to bring me all over to the bank taking a long way back, wearing a straight face to hide my annoyance. The madras traffic aggravated my frustration further more before I reached my bank (bank 2) to deposit the cheque. To my dismay my bank was too busy with the customers thronging like the flies which mean my wait is going to be longer that left me even more deprived. I intended to check into the office before lunch so that I will not be accounted for half days leave 

Once the work was done I rushed to the bike not to waste any more time to reach the office at the earliest. I kick started the vehicle changed from neutral to first and then first to second and then to the top in no matter of time. There was a public transport bus ahead of me trying to slow down at the bus stop at an intersection. Why is that the bust stop is always right before an intersection? I tried to overtake it when I found two strangers in a bike trying to come from my left heading in my direction (rather I was heading in their direction) from one of the perpendicular lanes. The site of me rushing in left the rider perplexed and his expression was like that of the heroines of the Indian horror movies before they leave out a shriek. I spotted him well in time and my attempt to bring the gear down and to decelerate was in vain as I found it to my surprise the bike speeding up. I tried to avoid the clash but ended up breaking his headlight to pieces. At the end of the scene my bike was resting safely with a broken indicator and a clutch and a bent gear stand right at the middle of the road at the inter junction. I didn’t panic and for the same reason I guess I safely got out of the bike before its fall with a slight bruise on my left leg. After a semi argument I agreed to take on the expenses to repair his bike and we parted ways with smiling faces. Hugging would have overdone the scene I guess ;)

Why did I bring this story here after all this time of not writing a post? What made me write this one? During my post accident analysis I was trying to zero in on the reason that caused the accident and also the factors that would have avoided it.

As I scanned it backwards, I found the following reasons for my rash driving which I hardly indulged in.

4) I was frustrated waiting for a long time in my bank which I felt like the longest wait of my life.

3) I was in restless riding in the traffic of madras on the way from the first bank to the other.

2) The banker, who called me back for no fault of mine to fix a mistake he did, left me red faced. I was contemplating that I wouldn’t be at the scene of the accident at that time if he never called me. But then something worse could have happened. We never know until it is happened, right.

1) I started late and didn’t stick to the initial plan of going to the office and then starting from there to the bank which urged me to reach office at the earliest.

You can choose any of the above options other than the last to conclude if you find any reason to sympathize with me ;) but I chose to blame it on myself. My tick is right against the last reason #1. I have a theory to support my reasoning too. It’s the butterfly effect 

“The butterfly effect is a phrase that encapsulates the more technical notion of sensitive dependence on initial conditions in chaos theory. Small variations of the initial condition of a dynamical system may produce large variations in the long term behavior of the system.”

So now you know where it all began and the inspiration behind this post 
Does it not feel nice to see a theory unwind in your life right before your eyes and you have the realization that it’s really happening? And is it not all the more reason to rejoice when it happens to be the first freak accident of the world’s safest rider ;)? Yes it feels good and that’s what made me write this post.

Moral of the story: Start early if you don’t want to pay to fix somebody’s bike ;)

CHOICE

We always have a choice on anything and everything we do. Right from waking up to the time we go to bed and even while we sleep we have a choice. We have the choice whether to open our eyes now or later, we have the choice whether to move out of the bed and start the day now or later, we have the choice of the position we sleep. There comes so many chances of making a choice in our daily life and we make a choice without our cognition as making the smallest of choices in the daily routine would have become a habit by the time we realize that we are really making a choice now. And this assemblage of choices makes our day and these days coherently make our life.
We are so accustomed to taking these small decisions of the day that when we are challenged with a huge one we usually stumble, run to the corner trying to find a place to hide. One such choice every individual has to make is his/her wedding. You have to make a choice whether to get married or not married. If the later is chosen then you can get back to the normal mode of making easy small choices but if the earlier choice is made then pops the next set of choices. Marry a known devil or an unknown angel I meant marry a friend or a stranger. If a known devil is chosen then comes the dearth of making any choices as you are likely to lose any confidence you have in making choices. If an unknown angel is to be chose then arrives a truck load of choices to make.
In this scenario I would agree with the saying that “A man makes a choice first and then the choice makes the man”. The rest of the life largely depends upon this choice that he or she makes at this juncture. It’s a choice worth taking as it changes the life or changes the person altogether as I have witnessed in some cases of my friends who got married.
If anyone out there is seeking the strength to make such choice then tell yourself

I don’t make a right choice. I make a choice and make it right

Now you have the choice of commenting or not. Go on and pick your choice ;)

Amateur artist

I always believed that i can do everything and for the same reason i think i never reached any heights in anything i did.I saw myself as the jack of all trade and king of none.In most cases i have been only better than the worse and in some ranked amidst the averages and in none have i been a person to reckon with, largely due to my indolence.Drawing is one such creativity i touched upon my childhood and though did not go places came close enough to get a first prize in one of the competitions held in the school.I ended up getting the second prize and the number of participants were definitely not two if you are under estimating by any chance ;)
I am wondering lately whether i did justice to all my so called "talents" and now i am in the process of reanimating my lost appetite for all those activities i indulged in my puerility.
I was too tempted to take the pencil to sketch again when i saw my buddy preparing to sketch a subject aesthetically. He was encouraging and prompted me to derive inspiration from his own passport size picture. So i indulged once again with the 3P'S - The pencil, paper and the pad. With his photo on the side i started sketching ardently as i was too excited to draw again. The pencil stroked his hair, his nose, his other facial features and i like a pro swapped the pencils between HB,2B,4B and even 6B nonchalantly as if i have been doing it for ages.I erased, readjusted, redrew and did whatever i could to make my creation resemble the original picture and the best i could do was to make it resemble his could be cousin :)
We had an hearty laugh after seeing the finished sketch my buddy claiming to have seen the person in the picture somewhere :)
But then it announced the rebirth of a not so great amateur artist :)

Sept 09

Long time since i contributed to my post. I dont find time and motivation these days to put my thoughts to the blog. So i thought to borrow a so called "poem" from my diary that i used to fill in my school days. Another school buffer "poem" which i guess might make few of my readers giggle for a moment :) Here it goes

It was September nine,
I asked her "Will you be mine?"
Reply was "Better luck next time"

I felt, it was not so fine,
But dear, I'll never whine.

I dreamt of walking with her in rain,
And under the sun that shine,

Together i thought to dine
A candle lit dinner with a pinch of wine

I then realized its all a dream in vain.
One thing is sure that your heart will be my shrine,

Till life flows in my vein,
And love remains so divine.

I am LOL as i type it out and its really funny to look back in time.I am wondering where i derived my inspiration and its the word September 9 that took it all this way to find a space in my blog. It was written on 8th October 2003. I think it was a dedication to one of my friend on his birthday which he never knew of.Thanks for bearing with the clumsy poet :)

Barbaric bard

The date shows 28-10-2001 when the poem was written. I try to recollect the circumstances when i wrote this one. It was in my school days when me and one of my friends who was a she were pulling each others legs.A funny incident sow the seed for the thought for this poem that might sound too rude and cruel. But there was no animosity whatsoever when i wrote it. By gods grace she is happily married with a caring husband and a lovely son. Here goes the poem of an amateur school boy who found joy bringing together words that sounded similar.

22-10-2001

To you in your marriage,
When you get into a bondage,
Which i shall ravage,

Keep this envisage,
Till your old age,
To spare you I am not a sage
And to you i will be a real savage.

Be ready to pay homage,
To the person who'll share all your age.

To you in your marriage,
From someone on the rampage.

Too unskilled and funny it is as i read it now. I can come up with lot of improvisations but i wanted this to be raw as it was when i wrote it. This should fit in a rock album for all the negativity it has in it ;)

Spread the news and not the flu

Hi all,

Its now official that swine flu is fast spreading and its awareness is a necessity.
Here is a link which explains the symptoms, the immediate course of action and the centers to contact in case of emergency.
Spread the news across and lets stick to the sneezing etiquette, cover the mouth region with a handkerchief or a tissue while sneezing or coughing. It is advisable to bath before you go to sleep. Time to stick to the discipline and etiquette taught in our school days people.

Cue pal

It was a Sunday and I and my friend biked out to get a gift for my colleague’s twin babies who are going to celebrate their birthday tomorrow. We stepped into few toy stores and could not zero in on any gifts and decided to relax playing a game of snooker which we happened to play during our days together onsite. We checked into a billiards bar and we were relieved to find an unoccupied table inviting us to play. We booked it without wasting much time and for our dismay we couldn’t find the cue stick which is used to strike the ball, without which a game was impossible. We summoned the waiter to bring us a cue and after few minutes of checking the waiter returned to us empty handed saying that they have run out of all the cues they had. It was quiet understandable as it was a Sunday and all but our table was booked.
I checked around all other tables and the guys who were playing there to spot if any of the table had more than two allotted cue sticks. I engrossed in a contention with the waiter claiming there should be at least one cue stick somewhere with which me and my friend can start playing the game sharing a common cue stick. As a player you need a cue stick in your hand all the time even while watching as your partner plays his turn to get a feel of the game and also to be in rhythm. Unlike in total unavailability as in my case a common cue is always going to be a pain. A common cue is a luxury in inaccessibility just like any other thing.
As I was about to give up and get back to my place a guy who was playing in the nearby table came forward and rendered the cue stick which he was using. I was really taken aback pleasantly to that kind of gesture from a stranger. He was playing with his partner who had his cue and it’s an incommodious feeling to share a common stick when two players are involved in the game. Despite that fact this guy came forward out of his comfort zone to help couple of strangers have a relaxing time. Not many have a heart and attitude to realize other’s difficulty and step to the fore with a helping hand without even seeking. Not for the first time that I am experiencing this kind of magnanimous gesture that I decided on the first instant not to miss people like this who are hard to come by in life. I got acquainted to this guy and exchanged pleasantries and our background. He did his graduation in my hometown, he stayed near my house during his college days and yet we got an opportunity to meet only now and to top it all up he shared my brother’s name.

His name is Ashwin and I dedicate this post to that humble heart that was willing enough to go out of the comfort zone to see some stranger smile. That gesture thoroughly deserves an appreciation and I am taking this space to do it. I like to tell him that his gesture was contagious and it has instilled in me a new value.

A small effort goes a long way

I feel elated as I write this post. One of my school friends’ who is back to Chennai has been in constant touch ever since he came back from the states. During the weekends we tend to hang out together as he is as much a loser as I am when it comes to getting a girl friend. One fine Sunday as we were chatting he brought up the topic of the competitions that is happening in his company. He was participating in one of the competition which was to come up with a creative logo reflecting the mood of the occasion. The occasion was the fifth anniversary celebration of the partnership of his company with its client which was into insurance.
Soon our minds started working on the line of creating a logo that will stand out in the lot of entries that the competition will draw in. After trying few ideas we zeroed in on one logo finally which would be my friend’s entry to the competition.
I totally forgot to follow what was happening in that front. I was awaiting a surprise when my friend messaged me today that his entry has got the first prize in the competition filling me with a sense of jubilation as if I have won it. It’s a team effort I would say it needed ideas to be put into the paper and then taken into the system digitally. Sara played a part in putting the idea to the paper and jana took care of converting it into digital. It was the most creative of Sundays. Good work boys. Let us have a small celebration :)
The logo demands a bit of explanation to understand making it closer to modern art ;)

LOGO Description
-----------------
1. Company logo at the bottom as base and the client logo is on the top with celebration.
2. Blue color arcs represents number 5 for five years Relationship between them.
3. If we remove the right side arc in the bottom logo and see the whole picture it resembles a person running with a torch of glory.
4. As a whole picture it seems like a person stretching his hands and celebrating the 5 years.

Be a Roman in Rome?

This day happened to be that once in a blue moon day when I saw sun rising. I had to drop my brother who was traveling back to our home town at the central railway station which is few miles from my living place. He had a train to catch at 6:15 am. We both started in the bike by quiet early to reach in time. I took the wheels as he donned the pillion rider. The way to the station has a long stretch of road that runs along the second longest beach in the world the marina. During the early hours it used to be deserted with the walkers and joggers running on the pavement breathing in the fresh air.
This road which stretches more than couple of miles has lot of traffic signals in between as it is harbored with lot of government offices and buildings and also educational institutes. The road those intersect this main road adds more reason to have more traffic signals. The sea breeze, the rising sun, silent ambiance, soothing atmosphere all adds to the aura making it perfect for a morning ride in the bike. As I was cruising through I was lucky enough not to be interrupted by the signals as it was green whenever I encounter it. It was as if someone was watching from above letting the signals go green at my arrival.
Taking it by my side I approached the next signal which was blinking green from a distance. I thought for a moment that I shall take it but then as I approached the stop line it changed to red giving me lesser than the usual time to stop my vehicle in time. I managed to follow the the rules of raising my hand to indicate the person who were behind me that I am discontinuing the ride before i came to a halt.
It happened so that a heavy tripper truck that was coming behind at a safe distance overtook us ignoring the signal. The cleaner who was on the left side of the truck scowled at us as the sand carrier passed by as i have done something sinful that no man should do. I didn’t realize how close we were to get into an accident until my brother informed me with a wry smile that the truck changed direction in the last minute. The truck would have simply run over us giving us a momentary stardom sparing some space for us in the morning news.
Jokes apart, this incident gave me couple of things to think about. My horoscope claims that I shall meet with an accident by this august. Is it coming alive? The second one is the debate I had with my fellow blogger on whether to do the way Romans do in Rome, analogous to be a cheater in this world filled with cheats. The first thought being insignificant my mind wandered around the roman thing. This incident wouldn’t have happened had I not stopped for the signal just like the truck driver. This made my affinity towards the old adage “While in Rome do as the Romans do” even stronger. I believe life is far more precious to be wasted in a road accident just for the heck of sticking to the rules.
If you ask me if ever I would follow the traffic signals during the abandoned time of the day then my answer would be negative. I would rather prefer to get bruised not following the rules than get seriously injured following it in a world full of rule breakers.
Be a Roman in Rome if you want to be alive. Values are to live, if life is at stake then value has no value.
